This full-day tour immerses you in the city's most iconic seasonal sights—ancient temples draped in fiery foliage, atmospheric alleyways, and riverside serenity in Arashiyama. It’s a balanced blend of nature, culture, and cuisine—perfect for a memorable fall visit.

Pickup from Kyoto Hotel or Station (8:30 AM – 9:00 AM)

  • Begin your autumn journey with a private vehicle and local guide.

  • Enjoy a relaxing morning ride through Kyoto’s quiet streets to your first destination.


Tofuku-ji Temple (9:00 AM – 11:00 AM)

  • Start the day at Tofuku-ji, one of Kyoto’s most iconic fall foliage spots.

  • Walk across the famed Tsuten-kyo (Maple Bridge) for panoramic views of a valley filled with over 2,000 maple trees.

  • Explore tranquil Zen gardens where raked gravel, moss, and vibrant leaves create a serene, seasonal harmony.

  • Your guide will explain the history of the temple and the principles of Zen aesthetics.


Kiyomizu-dera Temple (11:00 AM – 12:30 PM)

  • Visit the UNESCO-listed Kiyomizu-dera, perched dramatically on a hillside.

  • Stroll through Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka, charming historical streets lined with shops and seasonal treats.

  • Admire the temple’s famous wooden stage overlooking a sea of autumn colors.

  • Enjoy time for scenic photo stops and browsing for local souvenirs (omiyage).


Lunch with Seasonal Scenery (12:30 PM – 2:00 PM)

  • Relax over lunch at a thoughtfully selected restaurant offering:

    • Kaiseki (multi-course seasonal cuisine) with garden views, or

    • A cozy udon/soba set meal in a traditional building.

  • Both options include vegetarian choices and regional specialties like yuba (tofu skin), grilled river fish, and persimmon desserts.


Arashiyama Exploration (2:00 PM – 4:00 PM)

  • Travel west to the peaceful district of Arashiyama.

  • Begin with Tenryu-ji Temple, a UNESCO site with a stunning autumn garden framed by the surrounding hills.

  • Continue through the iconic bamboo forest, then stroll riverside along the Hozugawa River.

  • Pause to enjoy the view with a warm drink at a riverside café or bench.


Optional Stop: Philosopher’s Path or Gion/Yasaka Shrine (4:00 PM – 5:00 PM)

  • If time and energy allow, take a scenic detour:

    • Philosopher’s Path: A quiet, contemplative walk lined with maple trees and hidden temples—perfect for golden hour.

    • Or opt for a brief visit to Gion or Yasaka Shrine for early evening photos in Kyoto’s historic district.


Return to Kyoto City Center (5:00 PM – 5:30 PM)

  • Your guide and private vehicle will return you to your hotel.

  • Alternatively, get dropped off near a recommended local restaurant for dinner and continued evening plans.
